Sales Assistant - Exeter shop

Full-time Average 5 days a week (37.5 hours per week)

We are looking for someone who can combine their love of the outdoors with exceptional people skills to join our Exeter shop as a Retail Sales Assistant. This position is an outdoor enthusiast's dream. It involves assisting customers by using your experience and knowledge of the outdoors. You will be active, friendly and love the outdoors coupled with good knowledge and experience of trekking, camping, climbing or any outdoor pursuit that gets you out the front door. The wider your experience the better.
We are an independent retailer that encourage all our staff to contribute with their ideas for new products, promotions and blogs. This is a great opportunity to learn and develop your own skills. You must be outgoing, self-motivated, an excellent communicator and passionate about what we do and sell at Taunton Leisure.

Some retail experience is desirable, but training will be given. You will also have good knowledge of current technologies in the outdoor industry while being given the opportunity to expand your knowledge with manufacturer led field trips. As well as dealing with customers on a face to face basis, there is a good level of digital skill required, so you must be computer savvy. You will be part of a small, hard-working team, and you will be willing to pitch in with all jobs to ensure the smooth running of the business. A staff purchase scheme is available upon successful completion of the probation period.

Responsibilities

 Ensure high levels of customer satisfaction through excellent sales service
 Maintain outstanding store condition and visual merchandising standards
 Maintain a fully stocked store
 Ascertain customers’ needs and wants
 Recommend and display items that match customer needs
 Welcome and greet customers
 Manage point-of-sale processes
 Actively involved in the receiving of new shipments
 Keep up to date with product information
 Accurately describe product features and benefits
 Follow all companies policies and procedures

Skills

 Proven working experience in retail sales
 Basic understanding of sales principles and customer service practices
 Proficiency in English
 Track record of over-achieving sales quota
 Solid communication and interpersonal skills
 Customer service focus
 Friendly, helpful, confident and engaging personality
 Basic administration skills

Part-time 2 days a week (Saturday and Sunday 14 hours per week)
